Dr. Philbert J. Ford graduated Cum Laude from Morehouse College in Atlanta, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology/Pre-medicine studies. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2000. He then went on to complete his Internal Medicine residency, as well as a fellowship program in Infectious Diseases, at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa.
During Dr. Ford's training at USF, he co-authored multiple published articles involving HAART medical management of HIV infected patients. He was also awarded the Gold Star Award for Medical Excellence in Internal Medicine.
After completion of his fellowship training in Tampa, Dr. Ford moved to Tallahassee to pursue his career in Infectious Diseases. After his first year in Tallahassee, he branched out and started his own practice-Southeastern Center for Infectious Diseases, P.A. He is responsible for the development of the Southeastern Center for Infectious Diseases intravenous antibiotic infusion clinic, to provide outpatient intravenous antibiotic options for patients.
Over the past nine years, he has developed relationships in the Tallahassee medical community, allowing him to serve as Physician Liaison for Infectious Diseases at various health centers over the past several years. He has maintains membership in the Capital Medical Society, the American Medical Association, Infectious Diseases Society of America and International Society of Travel Medicine. Dr. Ford is double-Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. He sees patients in Tallahassee and Thomasville.
In his spare time, Dr. Ford enjoys attending sporting events, jazz music events, and yearly jazz cruises.
