Dr. Gizatchew Ketsela received his Medical Doctorate from Addis Ababa University-Ethiopia in 1983. He then received his Certificate of Specialty in Internal Medicine in 1989. Dr. Ketsela became board-certified in Internal Medicine in 2003 while attending New York Medical College at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center. In 2009, he did his Fellowship in Infectious Disease at University of Florida. Dr. Ketsela is currently board certified in Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine. He received the Academic Achievement Award as PGY2/PGY 3 resident from New York Medical College-Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center, published in September 2009 in Transplant Infectious Disease and is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America.

Dr. Ketsela has served in military hospitals as Medical Director and was very involved in teaching medical students and medical interns while living in Ethiopia. He has also worked at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego as a hospitalist and at the Infection Prevention Treatment Center in Gainesville providing consults. Dr. Ketsela worked at the Guthrie Clinic providing consults and teaching medical students and residents and was also an Assistant Professor at Upstate University. 

Dr. Ketsela has been at Southeastern Center for Infectious Diseases since June 2014. He is very active with the Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare Residency program and sees inpatient/outpatient consults. He sees patients in Tallahassee and Thomasville.

Dr. Ketsela enjoys spending time with his wife and toddler son.
